The normally sedate NYT has such masterful control over its information design and hierarchy that when font sizes escalate on the front page, terror ensues. This is especially true when they use ‘FAILS’ and ‘PLUNGE’ in such quick succession in the aforementioned giant, bolded, uppercase (shouting!) type.
Would be kind of interesting to peek at the NYT’s web style guide and see what kind of horrifying news merits say, an even larger headline than this. I mean, it’s obviously going to get worse, right?
