I found it underwhelming that most of the analysis surrounding this paper is concerned with the idea of an unexpected direction of influence: kids affecting parents.  To me, the much more interesting theme is how ideology — which many claim is based on moral and ethical absolutes — can be educated by environment, and specifically by empathy.  Maybe there is hope after all.
