Apple Trying to Improve Online Shopping... →
Interesting new patent filing from Apple that would explore social aspects of shopping, in real time.

Leaving Town
Pretty soon I’ll be leaving Manhattan…and moving to Brooklyn! I’m prepping myself for the move with lots of street-level research about this once otherworldly enclave. Lots of walking, touring, scrambling, or as I like to call it — urban hiking.

Walkabout
Some photos from this morning — took a walk through SoHo, West Village, Meatpacking, camera at the ready.
Finally made it to the (not so) new (anymore) Apple store on W. 14th. Not having lived here for so long, it’s really enjoyable walking around and reacquainting myself with the city!
One thought I had while I was there — think we’ll ever see an Apple branded point-and-shoot? I realize it doesn’t fit their product philosophy, but you can’t help but lust for what...
There will come soft rains →
This evening, it rained relentlessly, reminding me of this short story by Ray Bradbury (inspired by this Sara Teasdale poem).
B Fly
Trying to figure out what BlueFly’s newly branded B-fly section is all about. It’s obviously a straight shot at the younger, hipper affluent market, but are they offering new product lines or just using a different strategy to market the same old stock? My money’s on the latter as I’m not spotting anything new in the inventory. I do like this “boutique”...

Fighting for Resolution
I’ve been torn between continuing to take photos with my iPhone or going back to doing things properly and capturing moments with my Canon SD630. Since my iPhone purchase, my true digital camera has been buried at the bottom of my bag, unused. I attribute my change in habit to convenience. I carry both gadgets at all times, but the iPhone just leaps into my hand and/or is already in hand...

Ambulatory Advantage
There’s something empowering about walking — moving nimbly, unencumbered on one’s own legs — across an urban metropolis. Relying solely on my own limbs, I can go anywhere the city will let me, but while depending on transportation (subway, car, bicycle, etc), I’m restricted by the unnatural limitations and pathways of a vehicle.

The Revivalists
If there is anything worth laying as a foundation for academic study, it is the labor and love of thinking — philosophy. And as the NYT notes, the subject is experiencing a revival of interest as an academic concentration for today’s college students. “Once scoffed at as a luxury major, philosophy is being embraced at Rutgers and other universities by a new generation of...

March Closeouts, April Openings
Hello end-of-winter! I spent the last two weeks of March living at home in Kentucky and then transitioning up to NYC. It’s been an action-packed few weeks and I’m happy they’ve finally come.
I’ve been looking forward to an East Coast return for quite awhile! Mostly, I’m excited about being amongst fascinating people, doing mind-boggling things, and smiling...
